About

The FR-A800 is the high-function member of Mitsubishi Electric’s FREQROL inverter line, the machine counterpart to the FR-F800. It replaced the FR-A700 and the FR-A500(L). Control is selectable between V/F, Advanced magnetic flux vector, Real sensorless vector and PM sensorless vector control.

Every rating is published four times, under super light duty, light duty, normal duty and heavy duty, so one model number carries four kW figures, which is where nameplate identification usually goes wrong. Normal duty is the initial setting at 150 per cent for 60 s, heavy duty 200 per cent.

FR-A820 and FR-A840 are the 200 V and 400 V standard models, FR-A846, FR-A860 and FR-A870 the IP55, 600 V and 690 V builds. FR-A842 is a separated converter type with no mains rectifier, fed from a companion FR-CC2 unit, and it is how the range reaches 500 kW. A drive quoted at 500 kW is therefore an FR-A842, and the FR-CC2 beside it may be the failed unit.
