Dynatron is one of the earliest electronic lift drives Schindler built, launched in 1965. Dynatron and Transitronic were the AC and DC halves of Schindler’s pre-Variodyn drive offering, and the later Variodyn range is described as their natural successor.
The mainstream Dynatron S does not convert frequency. It uses thyristors to control the alternating and direct current fed to the windings of a two-speed pole-changing lift motor, regulating speed against encoder feedback, which makes it a variable-voltage AC regulator rather than an inverter. It is listed in 30, 63 and 90 A sizes, at speeds to 1.75 m/s and capacities to 2500 kg, working with Schindler’s Aconic and Miconic E, B and SX controllers.
A later branch, Dynatron F, is quoted in kilowatts, 15 kW for the V1500RL and 30 kW for the V3000RL, and is catalogued as a frequency converter. Units are identified from the rating plate: the Schindler IDs carried for the Dynatron S all begin 8401.
