SINAMICS G120 is the Siemens standard converter that replaced the MICROMASTER 4 range. It is a modular system built from two function units: a Control Unit carrying the closed-loop control, terminals and fieldbus, and a Power Module carrying the rectifier, DC link and IGBT output stage. A rating plate therefore shows two article numbers, and a repair or replacement decision has to identify both.
Three Control Unit series are listed: CU230P-2 for pumps, fans and buildings; CU240E-2 for conveyors, mixers and extruders without an encoder; CU250S-2 for extruders and centrifuges with encoder feedback. Of the two Power Modules, the PM240-2 uses an integrated braking chopper with an external resistor and runs from 0.55 kW to 250 kW, while the PM250 returns braking energy to the supply and runs from 7.5 kW to 90 kW.
Older installations commonly use the CU240B-2 Control Unit and the PM230, PM240P-2, PM240 and PM260 Power Modules, none of which the current catalogue still lists.

PM240-2 covers 0.55 kW to 250 kW; PM250 covers 7.5 kW to 90 kW, both IP20
PM250 returns braking energy to the supply, so no braking resistor is needed
