About

FRENIC-VG is Fuji Electric’s top vector control drive, catalogued as FRN…VG1S. It comes in two forms: a unit type, and a stack type fed from a separate RHC PWM converter or RHD-D diode rectifier. Applications are cranes, winding, presses, test benches and positioning.

The three-phase 400 V unit type is triple rated, high, medium and low duty; the 200 V unit type has high and low duty only, and both stack types medium and low duty only, with low duty overload at 110 per cent. The unit type runs to 630 kW, and with the stack type the family reaches 1000 kW and 1850 A.

Closed-loop vector control gives a 1:1500 speed range and 600 Hz speed response; sensorless vector control gives 1:250 and 40 Hz. Safe Torque Off is standard; Safe Stop 1, Safely Limited Speed and Safe Brake Control need the OPC-VG1-SAFE card. The first question on any VG enquiry is which duty mode it was commissioned in.
