SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES Motion Control is the servo member of the Siemens MASTERDRIVES converter system, alongside the general-purpose Frequency Control and the higher-power Vector Control. It is matched to the 1FK6, 1FK7 and 1FT6 synchronous and 1PH7, 1PL6 and 1PH4 asynchronous servomotors.
The range runs from 0.55 kW to 250 kW on three-phase 380-480 V, and that is the only voltage class. Three housing designs are offered, Compact PLUS, compact and chassis units, supplied as AC-AC converters or as DC-AC inverters sharing a common DC link.
The control-version digit in the order number is 5 for standard Motion Control and 7 for Performance 2, which doubles computing power and lifts maximum pulse frequency from 8 kHz to 10 kHz; the two share a current rating but not a performance. An encoder board must be fitted for every control mode except V/f, so a unit swapped without its matching board will not run the application.
