The Varispeed L7 is a lift AC drive, a three-phase IGBT PWM inverter carrying a dedicated lift firmware set. Yaskawa engineered it and Omron sold it on its own badge through OMRON YASKAWA Motion Control, the European joint venture that ran from 2003 to 2009.
Twenty-three models cover 3.7 to 55 kW, the 200 V class rated 17.5 to 224 A and the 400 V class 8.5 to 128 A. Overload capacity is 150 per cent of rated output current for 30 seconds at an 8 kHz carrier, and closed loop vector control covers induction and permanent magnet machines with a 1:1000 speed range.
Braking hardware splits at 22 kW: below it an internal transistor works with a resistor on terminals B1 and B2, and from 22 kW upward an external CDBR braking unit is required. The specification character in the model number is decoded nowhere in the manual, so the nameplate is the only reliable identification.
