The OVF428x is one of Otis’s Japanese-built variable frequency lift drives, part of the 25402 family alongside the OVF416, the OVF428 and the closely related OVF428G. Otis supplied it as a complete floor-standing cabinet rather than as a module.
Inside are an IGBT three-phase power module, a capacitor bank of ten 450 volt 6,800 microfarad capacitors behind a 175 amp fuse, an EMI filter, a brake power module, breaker and contactor assemblies, and forced-air cooling. Control is by a processor board with a low voltage interface board; the OVF428G replaces that pair with a Global Drive Control Board.
Arrangements were built for three supply bands, 346 to 380 V, 400 to 440 V and 460 to 480 V, in JPA, APA, CEN and CSA market versions, with options for a battery supply, a blower and two machine sizes. A unit is identified from the arrangement number on the cabinet.
