SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES Frequency Control is the simplest of the three control versions of the Siemens 6SE70 MASTERDRIVES platform, alongside Vector Control and Servo Control. Siemens aimed it at straightforward duty: pumps, fans and textile machines, running induction, synchronous or reluctance motors.
Units are supplied as compact types A to D and chassis types E to H, either as AC-AC converters or as DC-AC inverters fed from a common DC bus. Supply classes run from 3 AC 208-230 V to 660-690 V, with matching DC link classes from 280-310 V to 890-930 V. Control is by an adjustable V/f characteristic.
Because the hardware is common to all three versions, the order number is the only way to tell an FC unit from its Vector Control twin: the last-but-one digit is 1 for FC, 2 for VC and 3 for SC. FC tops out at 300 Hz where the same chassis in VC reaches 600 Hz.
