The OVF30 is a variable frequency hoist-motor drive developed by Otis at Bloomfield, Connecticut, and dated to the early 1990s by the drive specialists who service it, who also file it under the names OVF1 and DBSS. The range is four drive assemblies rated 70 A, 90 A, 120 A and 210 A, all at 480 VAC.
It is not a stand-alone inverter. Otis fits it inside its controller cabinets, from the Geared Elevonic Model, MVS and HVS through Elevonic 311VF and 411M to later Gen2 and NGGC. The drive is non-regenerative, and field-serviceable content is limited to two boards, a low voltage interface board and a processor board. Otis has issued a dated obsolescence notice and now supplies the Magnetek Quattro AC drive as the documented replacement. On a repair enquiry the processor board matters most: where it is an ABA26800GW type, Otis’s own note is to consider replacing the drive rather than the board.
