The RPI is thyssenkrupp Aufzugswerke’s regenerating lift inverter, Regenerativer Pulsumrichter mit Stromeinprägung, a regenerative pulse converter with current impression. It is a three-phase AC frequency inverter, not a DC drive. LiftEquip sells the same platform under a second badge, MFR, IP21 as an RPI and IP20 as an MFR.
Three classes exist, RPI 5.5, RPI 7,5 and RPI 18, the numbers being motor kilowatts against a catalogue range of 5.5 to 18.5 kW; the RPI 18 is frame size BG4 on a VPR1-18, VPM1 and VPL1 board set. Supply is 3 AC 400 V without neutral over a 380 to 460 V range on TN, TT or IT systems, with a separate 1 AC 230 V control feed rated 200 VA plus the brake magnets.
Contactors, reactors, brake control and the EMC filter all sit inside the one housing, and the drive works permanent-magnet gearless machines of the PMC145 family under an E.COR control system.
